Description

Join us for this videomaking workshop on campus in the Lyons New Media Centre and learn how to make videos that share an idea, tell a great story. This workshop is an interactive prep course for those interested in learning more about the videomaking resources that we have on campus and for those interested in making 1 minute research videos. You will learn how to script and storyboard, how to capture high def footage, high def audio, how to use a greenscreen, how to record a voiceover and how to use the video editing software that is available for free on campus for McMaster students.

We encourage all graduate students to take advantage of the resources here on campus and to have a go at making a 1 minute video about your research. You can submit a video as a single entry or as a group and submit it to the research minutes video competition in July. The best video in each Faculty will be awarded a $500 prize announced in the September graduate recognition award ceremony.

This event is a peer workshop offered by graduate students with videomaking experience. Sarah Nangle-Smith ran a video making contest last year for engineering graduate students, Erinn Van Wynsberghe has over a decade of experience in the videomaking industry and Chris McAllister is McMaster's own media consultant with a wealth of knowledge in this area!

Come ready to film. Dress to be on camera (if you want to be on camera in your video) and avoid wearing any shades of green. Bring any video snippets, pictures or props from your research that you might want to use!

A SPICES funded initiative, McMaster Research Minutes, encourages McMaster graduate students to learn videomaking skills using the impressive resources that are available on campus as a fun, experiential way to share their research.
